Fun, music and movement for little movers and shakers

Training

PRESMA Trainers are happy to arrange individual training sessions to suit various levels of interest, from parents and pre-school teachers and early years practitioners who want to know more, through to an induction scheme for local potential PRESMA teachers: We want to provide the training that is most relevant for you within your setting, provided by your local practitioner.  To find out who's working in your community look at our Find A Class page (there is a city and a county page), click on the practitioner's name and send an e-mail with your requirements.

Your tutors will be experienced PRESMA teachers working in Norfolk & Suffolk to provide successful and stimulating music sessions for babies and young children

In the past we have run specific training days including:

Basic training course

Aimed at parents and potential teachers, incorporating a sound understanding of the principles of music in early years together with features of child development. It forms part of the Induction scheme for potential PRESMA teachers.

The course will include information on techniques and resources, discussion of the aims and benefits of early musical experience, work on planning and structuring a session, and plenty of opportunities for practical activities, including songs and movement ideas.

.

Advanced training course

A follow on training day for those practising in early years music provision, involving role-play, considering the interaction of adults and children, and developing ideas & musical structures.

These courses can be adapted to suit your personal requirements

Induction scheme for local potential PRESMA practitioners

This is aimed specifically at new PRESMA teachers. A term's induction includes:

  • observing existing classes
  • the basic training course content
  • working with a mentor
  • continuing support from PRESMA teachers when your classes are up and running

Seminars

These are open to everyone, but are aimed at practising pre-school teachers and early years workers. We invite experienced practitioners in the field of Early Years education, music, dance and other relevant areas to deliver a workshop.  Past leaders have included:

  • Sue Nichols, author of Bobby Shaftoe Clap Your Hands

  • The Bare Toed dance company who specialise in dance and movement in the Early Years
